Way back in ancient times in India, there was a big, bad demon called Mahishasura. He was causing all sorts of trouble and chaos, and the gods were like, "Uh-oh, we gotta do something about this guy!"

Enter Goddess Durga, the ultimate warrior queen with ten arms and a fierce attitude. She battled Mahishasura for nine whole days and nights, finally defeating him on the tenth day. Talk about girl power!

To celebrate Durga's victory and honor her courage, people started the tradition of Navaratri, which means "nine nights" in Sanskrit. During these nine nights, people dress up in their fanciest clothes, gather with friends and family, and dance like there's no tomorrow!

Each night of Navaratri is dedicated to a different form of Goddess Durga, and people perform special prayers and rituals to honor her. But let's be real – the best part of Navaratri is the dancing! Whether you're spinning around in a colorful costume or clapping along to the music, it's all about having a blast and spreading joy.

And on the last day of Navaratri, everyone comes together for Dussehra, the grand finale! They light up big bonfires, exchange gifts, and enjoy yummy treats to celebrate the triumph of good over evil.
