The Friends of Harrow Weald is a Registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) dedicated to transforming local parks into vibrant, inclusive community hubs. Our mission is to put "colour into the world we live in" by fostering social cohesion, environmental sustainability, and personal well-being.

What We Do

We believe that parks make the best community centres. Our work focuses on four key pillars:

• Community Health & Wellbeing: Through the Harrow Weald Health Hub, we partner with medical researchers (including Imperial College London) to provide free, accessible health sessions. We also host Busby Clubs, where residents and carers can connect through the art of conversation to combat isolation.
• Digital Inclusion: We bridge the digital divide by teaching essential online skills—from basic internet security to using NHS systems—in a relaxed, non-contentious environment.
• Environmental Stewardship: We are working towards creating carbon-neutral, plastic-free parks. Our projects include litter-picking initiatives and "SmartPark" technology to better manage and map our local green spaces.
• Social Harmony: Our Harmony Hubs celebrate cultural and religious diversity through educational events and crafting weekends, ensuring that everyone in our community feels welcome and respected.

Our Objectives

• Inclusivity: To treat all people equally, regardless of age, background, or ability.
• Education: To provide learning and training opportunities, from gardening skills to professional IT development.
• Solution-Focused: Rather than blaming others for local problems, our CAC Team (Community Action & Conservation) researches and implements sensible, cost-effective solutions to improve our area.

We are supported by a dedicated team of volunteers—from solicitors and ex-civil servants to gardeners and coders—all working together to ensure our community thrives without imposing ongoing costs on society.
