Let's take a trip through time to learn about Black History Month – a celebration of courage, resilience, and the incredible achievements of Black people!

So, a long, long time ago (well, not too long ago), there were some pretty amazing folks who changed the world in big ways. But sometimes, their stories didn't get the recognition they deserved. That's where Black History Month comes in!

It all started with a dude named Carter G. Woodson. He was a super smart historian who noticed that not enough people were talking about the awesome contributions of Black folks to history. So, he decided to do something about it!

In 1926, Carter G. Woodson started "Negro History Week" to shine a spotlight on Black history and culture. It was like one big party to celebrate the incredible achievements of Black people throughout history.

But guess what? People loved it so much that it eventually turned into Black History Month, celebrated every February in the United States, October in the United Kingdom and Canada. It's like a whole month dedicated to learning about the inspiring stories of Black trailblazers, leaders, artists, and inventors!

During Black History Month, we celebrate heroes like Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, Maya Angelou, and so many others who broke down barriers and made the world a better place. It's a time to honour their legacies, learn from their struggles, and keep fighting for equality and justice for all.
