About Eid al-Adha

Eid is a Muslim festival, which means it's a special time for people who follow the Islamic religion. There are two main Eids: Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.

Eid al-Fitr comes at the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting and prayer. It's a time for Muslims to celebrate the end of Ramadan, where they've been fasting from sunrise to sunset. Eid al-Adha, on the other hand, is also known as the Feast of Sacrifice. It honours the willingness of the Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham in the Bible) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God. However, before he could do so, God provided a ram to sacrifice instead. This Eid is a time for Muslims to remember the importance of sacrifice, generosity, and helping others in need.

Now, about the food! Eid is a time for delicious treats and feasts. Families and friends come together to enjoy special meals. One popular sweet during Eid is called "sheer khurma," which is a sweet, milky dessert with vermicelli and dried fruits. It's absolutely yummy!

People also share and exchange sweets and goodies with their neighbours and friends, spreading happiness and sweetness to everyone around them.

So, Eid is not just about delicious food and new clothes, but it's also a time for Muslims to celebrate the end of Ramadan, show kindness, and share joy with others. It's a festival of love, togetherness, and tasty treats!
